The benefits of taking the classroom outdoors exposes students to not only the wonders of nature, but food at its simplest form. With garden beds and community gardens, students learn by doing. By working the soil, planting seeds, tending to weeds and harvesting crops. Easy-to-use, raised garden beds can be used in school green spaces to create a new outdoor classroom. Students can also discover how composters take organic waste from their garden and transform it into nutrients to feed the soil for the next season's planting.
