Add Lifetime’s Dual Composter to your outdoor classroom for a more efficient way of composting with your students. The unit includes two separate, 50-gallon composters so there’s no need to wait for your first batch of compost to finish before starting another. Dark coloring helps absorb heat and internal aeration bars create the airflow needed to break down compost ingredients. High-density polyethylene and steel construction holds up through weather conditions. Built-in handles make it easy to move around your outdoor classroom or garden.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Liked it while it lasted I have had my composter for 4+ years. It did take a long time to assemble. My pins to hold the barrels in place broke pretty shortly after we purchased it. All of the metal inside of the barrels began rusting shortly after we started using it. When it rains water gets inside of the lid, so when you tumble it you can hear water sloshing around inside of it. The closing mechanism has always been stiff but has been functional and served it's purpose, until today. One of the bars of the latch snapped off when I tried to turn it. It has composted a lot of soil over the last few years, but I don't think I will purchase this model again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptional product and customer service!!! I bought this composter several years ago and have been extremely happy with it. But what is most exceptional is the incredible customer service provided by Lifetime when parts have needed to be replaced. As others have noted, the interior locking mechanism rusted after a year or so of use. I called Lifetime and they immediately sent me a replacement with an updated anti-rust coating. Yesterday the locking pin on the left bin broke, I just got off the phone with lifetime and again they immediately acted on the problem and are sending me a replacement. It is rare to find a company with such integrity and great service. Lifetime rocks!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Service Bought the Dual Compost Tumbler a long time ago, maybe 5 years. Love it. Taken pretty good care of it by cleaning the rusty locking mechanism every 6 mos or so. Was a little disappointed they weren't more rust resistant. Anyway, finally rusted shut and since they work great for us otherwise, I called to see if I could buy replacement parts. Talked to Luke in customer service who quickly volunteered to ship them for free. He did this without me complaining, threatening, whining or anything. The company stands by its products, hires terrific associates who deliver amazing customer service. Many thanks!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Worked great but rusted out We bought this compost Tumbler for my wife on her birthday four years ago. It has been great and so easy to turn, however, the rust has been building up on the hinges and inside latches and getting harder and harder to open. Recently, the back hinges on one of the barrels rusted out and broke off, rendering the unit unable to be used. The handles have been rusting and harder to use but with a spray have been able to open it. It is a shame only one tumbler works now since we can't latch the other lid. Disappointed it did not last longer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Rusted so bad...doors can not be opened Pin on right side snapped just turning the bin when 4 months old. Now both door mechanism are made out of cheap steel and are so rusted--can not be opened or closed

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I am a Master Compost Instructor ...for Clallam County in Washington State. When it comes to composters, whether store bought or hand built, I've seen them all. But of all of them, I tip my hat to this one. I was out buying the parts to build a new drum composter - a plastic 45gal barrel and some aluminum - but the moment I saw this one, I was sold! In fact, the money I spent wouldn't even pay for the parts of the one I was about to build. More importantly, this one has indestructible construction (extremely important when dealing with nematodes and other microbes breaking down organic matter into compost), a powder-coated base, and the multi-position drum locking system is a breeze to fill and empty! It's also the perfect size for the average residential home. Best of all, .....it's incredibly easy! For best results, mix 50% brown with 50% green, then tumble it for a minute or two. Within a day or two (depending on the ambient temperature), the mixture will begin to generate heat. Encouraged by this units double-wall construction, this is what you want, ....SO LEAVE IT ALONE! Once the temperature has subsided, spin the drum for a minute to remix the ingredients. Again, it will begin to generate heat. For best results, do this procedure 3 or 4 times, until it no longer generates heat. It is now ready to use. One last comment about compost. The goal of composting is not to make compost, but to create an environment that generates and encourages microbial habitat; these are the little guys that continue to break down organic matter into the building blocks that feed your plants long after you have spread the compost on your garden or lawn. Like you, nematodes need air and water to survive, so dry soil is dead soil.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Construction Ruins Excellent Design I really LOVED this composter...UNTIL the hinge mechanism holding the lid on to one of the containers rusted through and the lid fell off. Without a lid, the Dual Compost Tumbler does not tumble! We purchased the composter during the summer of 2013, so it was only two years old. The hinge mechanism appears to have rusted through. The composter was not exposed to water often, as Texas is drought-stricken. Nor was the lid stressed excessively, as it rested on a fence when it was opened. Now, the lid on the remaining container is almost impossible to open, I'm guessing due to rust. This is a product that has great features and that should be getting uniform five star reviews, but I cannot give it anything but a one-star because cheap parts were used in the most critical places.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Couldn't ask for anything more! We got ours from Costco years ago. It sits on our deck. We alternate between one side that's 'baking' and the other get new material. About every 4 months, we dump out the side that's been resting, sift out the big pieces that still haven't completed (avacado pits, mango seeds), and off we go. Our garden boxes love the material. Anyway, Lifetime has been great as well. A few years ago, one of the hinges broke. Sent an email and we had a new set the next week. Last month, one of the latches finally seized up. They sent out replacement the next week as well. Really can't ask for better service/support.
