is the bed material safe to grow food in ?

Asked by: fred
The material is one of the best and safest types of plastic for food consumption as it resists UV rays and is extremely heat tolerant ( -148 to 176 F / -100 to 80 C ). Because of this, it’s an excellent choice for the garden.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best raised beds ever! I purchased a Lifetime raised bed kit 4 years ago and they look as good today as the day I bought them. They have held up well and were very easy for me to assemble. My kit came with a tent to extend the season - it wasn't the easiest to put on but I did figure it out and was able to enjoy fresh produce well into October. Since I have more time for gardening now, I plan on using it in the Spring this year to get a head start on the growing season too. If anyone is interested in doing raised bed gardening I would highly recommend Lifetime raised beds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this Garden Box I bought two of these 4ft x 4ft boxes to replace done wood ones I'd made, but had started rotting. These are great because they are very easy to put together and unlike wood, won't rot. I've had my boxes for 3 years now and just replenish the soil each spring, and each year I have an excellent harvest. I often plant tomatoes, jalapeños, garlic, cilantro, and cucumbers in these boxes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to Assemble Just set up eight of these to replace wooden garden boxes that had rotted out. The design is simple and easy to put together. They can't be configured differently and are limited to the square shape. This is all we wanted but I could see it being an issue for some people who want longer rows. There is some really good information that comes with the kit on how to start your garden bed. I wasn't expecting anything like that but it was a good read and I'll follow what it said. We haven't grown anything in them yet but they were easy to install and the instructions were not difficult. Once assembled, we could move them without any issue because they were so light. This made it a simple process to configure the garden.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely garden beds! These beds are great. I already had a few and these were to add to my garden. They fit together quickly and easily. To make a double bed there is a corner clip that is tight! so I had to have my husband pop those on. Otherwise I was able to assemble in minutes. The beds hold their shape well and look nice. I will most likely be ordering more of these in the future.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Stuff I own several of their products. Plastic is not the material of choice but it is durable and easy to assemble, their customer support is outstanding.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from You can't go wrong with these beds. I purchased 18 boxes to make 9 raised beds, if I would have got these direct I would have returned them. There was so many problems getting them and the clips to hold them together. But with the Excellent Customer Service from School Outfitters, I decided to keep them. They have been set up for two weeks now. For the cost it was well worth it, I could have made my owe but my time and the cost of material would have doubled the cost. These will last my lifetime.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Happiest Customers Didn't Try Stacking These I can't speak as to how long these may or may not last, but don't expect these to simply snap together. I stacked them -- two high. This requires plastic clips (enclosed) to hold the two sets together. Very disappointed in the lack of tolerance for the least unlevel surface. Clips go flying off, if you can even get them on -- I am talking about having to sit on narrow sides and try hammering on "plastic" clips. My patio (where I thought was the most level - was still not level enough for easy assembly. Secondly, they do not mesh well when stacking one on the other. I worked for hours trying to get rid of daylight gaps and still am not comfortable that they are stacked correctly. I do not look forward to all the leveling I am going to have to do in my garden space just to insure clips stay and the beds don't fall apart. If you are thinking about stacking these -- you will despise Lifetime. To Lifetime I say -- You can do better.
