Yes – it could be used that way as there is no tray to distinguish a side.

Rated 4 out of 5 by BWebb from Just what we needed The board arrived on time and was packed well so it was received in good shape. Hooks on the aluminum frame made it easy to hang. Although the board is large, it is not heavy and is easy to handle. The corks is very nice. The frame could be a bit stronger, but is fine once hanging. Very happy with the purchase and service.
