Norwood Commercial Furniture's Cork Roll is made from all-natural cork, so you can feel good about your purchase. The 1/4-inch thickness absorbs extra classroom noise, making it a great insulator and soundproofer. The self-healing cork roll can be cut into any shape and size, so it's perfect for refinishing old boards or creating custom tiles for new projects. Add a roller and adhesive to your order for easy assembly - available at an additional cost. Choose from a variety of sizes.

Please note: We don't recommend gluing cork directly to your walls. Corkboards typically have a fiberboard backing into which the pins actually stick. Pins don't stick very well in drywall and can ruin a wall pretty quickly. Your local home store can probably fix you up with the backing and adhesive you need to make a great corkboard.

Can the cork be attached to a sheetrock wall with nails so I can hang a large map on it.  nailed through to securely hang?

Asked by: Lori
We do not recommend attaching this cork roll directly to walls. This item is meant for repairing cork boards or for crafting. We do have a number of map rails available, such as the one here: https://bit.ly/3yRXrEA. If you would like to discuss other options for hanging your map, please contact our team of experts through our live chat or by phone at 1-800-260-2776.

Does it come with a self-adhesive backing? If not, what type of glue would be needed for a brick/concrete block wall?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent quality at a very good price Bought this to use as bases for HO model railroad buildings, scenery, etc. Cork roadbed for HO trains is 3/16", only 1/32" thinner, so the difference, literally, is not discernible. The delivered sheet (or roll, depending on your perspective) is high-quality cork, of uniformly high density, with no visible seams. At a delivered cost of $81, this product costs $2.53/sq ft. Products sold as model railroad accessories cost $4 to $7/sq ft, and have to be pieced together to make the larger-than-12" areas some items require. So, while my application is not typical for School Outfitters products, it is a great deal compared to any of the many other options I investigated before buying.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Do not paint your cork :) I used the 1/4" thick Cork Roll for a hand painted map for a gallery exhibition, Maps Everywhere, at New Jersey City University. The cork was very easy to paint and held up very well. I used a standard white interior wall paint for the base, blue acrylic craft paint and markers to create the streets and other graphics. I glued the cork to a large foam board for stability. Visitors to the gallery are invited to add pins and flag messages to the map.
