At School Outfitters, we’re committed to strengthening the fabric of our community through volunteer work - because we believe that strong communities make strong schools. Our unique position as a partner to schools in the Greater Cincinnati area lets us connect students and families to new experiences and resources. Here are some of the many ways we strive to be a leader locally and within our industry:

  • High School Job Skills Program
We partner students from local high school DePaul Cristo Rey with job mentors here at our office. In addition to discussing career and academic goals, the students are given work to match their age and skill set. The aim is to nurture the students’ professionalism and confidence over the course of the school year.
  • Charitable Giving
In addition to a generous corporate donation, our employees have the option to give to United Way every year during a weeks-long campaign of fun activities. Our support is one way to reach as many people as possible in the Cincinnati area affected by issues like poverty, poor education and lack of healthcare.

But we don’t stop there – we routinely donate to local schools and colleges, such as Norwood View Elementary, Mercy Montessori, Chatfield College and Sycamore Junior High.

  • After-School Program
Our employees help students in an after-school program at Williams Avenue Elementary, a small public school in our own Norwood, Ohio neighborhood. From one-on-one tutoring and help with homework assignments to arts and crafts, our employees strive to connect with students and make a positive impact on their learning.
  • ArtWorks Student Artist Training
We’re proud to help fund ArtWorks, a public art program that’s created more than 100 murals throughout Greater Cincinnati. The program employs student artists from local high schools and colleges. The students are led by teaching artists who provide both art and job training. In addition, we fund a scholarship to help teaching artists continue their own education.
  • Employee Volunteer Hours
We encourage our employees to take advantage of volunteer opportunities – even if it’s on company time. Employees may volunteer at local organizations during the workday without using vacation or sick time to do it. It’s how we stay committed to bettering our community.
