BUYING GUIDE
Find the perfect seating options for young learners that provide comfort and flexibility in any preschool classroom.

The ideal preschool or daycare chairs blend durability with size and safety. Common features of preschool classroom chairs include rounded edges and corners to prevent bumps and bruises, nylon glides to protect classroom floors, and easy-to-clean materials like plastic, wood, and vinyl. Many preschool chairs boast lightweight construction and grab handles to allow little ones to pick up and move the seats themselves.
To measure a student for the correct seat height, measure from the floor to the bend behind the student's knee. We recommend ordering a size that will fit at least 75% of your students. Be sure to leave a 10 to 12-inch gap between the chair seat and the desk or tabletop. For example, 14-inch chairs require a desk or table 24 to 26 inches in height.
When in doubt, order the larger size in the suggested range to accommodate students as they grow throughout the school year.
Nylon glides on chair legs protect classroom floors from scratches and make it easier for young students to slide chairs in and out without disrupting the room..
Lightweight construction and grab handles are especially valuable in preschool settings, where students are encouraged to manage their own seating independently.

Preschool Classroom Seat Height Guide

Product Types
Plastic stacking chairs are a popular choice among preschools and daycare centers. Most are made from polypropylene, a safe and virtually indestructible plastic that’s easy to clean, typically more affordable than wood and available in a range of colors. Plus, the option to stack when not in use allows for more efficient classroom storage.
Shopping for preschool table and chair sets is the easiest and often most affordable way to create a cohesive classroom look. Table and chair sets are available in countless combinations, sizes and colors, such as collaborative whiteboard tables with stack chairs, laminate tables with wobble stools, traditional wood tables with ladderback chairs and more.
Wooden preschool chairs boast exceptional durability, require little maintenance and add a classic look to any early learning space. The most popular wood chair is the traditional ladderback chair, which features horizontal rungs on the backrest, resembling a ladder.
Preschool stools add versatility to any daycare or preschool classroom. Stools are lightweight and portable, allowing for easy maneuverability both indoors and out, and can usually be pushed under tables or stacked when not in use to save valuable classroom space. Certain styles even allow students to quietly rock or wiggle during lessons.
Preschool benches are ideal for select areas of the classroom, like reading nooks or cubbies, as they make it easy for little ones to share books or toys or put on shoes and coats. Many styles have convenient storage space just beneath the seat for toys, classroom supplies or personal belongings. Choose bench seating with a plush cushion for extra comfort or casters for easy maneuverability.
Soft, colorful, and convenient floor seats add a whole new level of flexibility to your preschool classroom. Floor seats help keep your young learners comfortable, which means they can keep focused! Designs made with waterproof fabrics also mean they can be taken outdoors to enjoy lessons in nature.
