School Outfitters, one of Cincinnati’s largest private companies, announced that they have converted to be 100% Employee Owned. Known as an ESOP, this company structure allows the employees of the company to earn shares in the company in addition to their regular compensation and bonus. Employee owners ultimately benefit from their efforts in the form of a significant retirement benefit that grows as the value of the company grows.
Tom Brennan, Founder and CEO of School Outfitters said “School Outfitters was founded on the idea that you could create a great place to work where people feel valued, where they do good work and are recognized for that good work, all while building a business to be proud of. Voted a Top Workplace by employees for 10 consecutive years, we feel that idea has become a reality.”
He continued “The time is right in the life of School Outfitters for the employees who have made this company great to benefit from their hard work. I am tremendously proud of what we have built over the last 24 years, and excited to see what’s next for School Outfitters.”
The change was made August 31, and announced to employees at a celebration on Friday, October 28.
Founded in 1998 and located in Norwood, School Outfitters is one of the country’s largest providers of furniture, fixtures and equipment for K12 schools. School Outfitters is proud to serve every major school district and most Charter and private school networks across the country with solutions that create great places to learn.
Company President Betsy Neyer added “School Outfitters has always led with a set of company values, the first of which is ‘Believe in People.’ That is the spirit in which we made this decision. The School Outfitters team is dedicated to serving educators across the country. We have great people working to support the important work done by educators, and we are thrilled that our team now has an ownership stake in the work they do.
